Evapotranspiration (ET) is the rate that water is transferred from land to the atmosphere. Due to weather variations and plant activity, it can be described in units of inches per day, cm per day, mm per day or other length per time unit. The ET rate can be determined to assist in irrigation scheduling however it is a predictive model trying to estimate the amount of water lost from a system.
